In my opinion, it is very important to be organized in a project, especially one that will span the entire school year. I have made a timeline to help me stay on track.
August: School starts. We start choosing projects and begin our project proposal papers.
September: Project proposal Papers are due and we get feedback from Mr.Todd after he has graded them. we are supposed to begin to work on projects.
October: I hoped to start taking pictures of the prairie and walk through it to start making a map. Begin the map making process by going on Google Earth and get a satelite picture of the prairie.
November: Continue working on map, make a copy of it from the data I have collected so far. Continue taking pictures, until weather does not allow it. Project Progress Presentation due November 8.
December: Make a copy of the map. Contact Ms. Lewis about identification of plants and begin a key from the map. Update wiki.
January: Continue map and identification of pictures with Ms. Lewis. Update wiki.
February: Continue work on all that can be done indoors, and without the use of the Prairie. Meeting with Ms. Lewis and Mr. Todd on February 18th. Work on map/ figure out a way to get more exact locations for the map (GPS unit???). Write a grant for both the map and the herbarium!!! Update wiki.
March: Start getting back outside to continue work on map and begin to take pictures (as weather allows). GRANT!!!!! Begin collecting specimens and mounting them for the herbarium. Begin to select/move in items needed for the herbarium (???). Visit the ISU herbarium (date TBD). Contact Alpha Copies/CopyWorks ASAP. Take pictures of the prairie for wiki and online herbarium. Make website for online herbarium. Update wiki.
April: Get pictures of the blooming plants on the prairie. Continue with map work, start/finish a final copy. Send map to copier for printing. Update wiki and website. Continue collecting and mounting specimens. Update wiki.
May: Submit final copy for printing (as early as possible!). Continue picture taking for wiki. Update wiki with map and pictures.
